Vaccination of Corona Virus will begin in India on 16 January, government stated Saturday evening, after the review of Covid-19 situation in the country by prime minister Narendra Modi.

Frontline workers and health care workers will be the priority, estimated number is 3 crore. Adding that they would be around 27 crore people consisting  above 50 years as well as  under 50 years of age with co-morbidities.

For emergency use in the country, the government had already approved two vaccines, Bharat Biotech's Covaxin and covishield, developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford university and this Covishield vaccine is manufactured by Pune-based serum institute of India.
